Quick News Images Conduit

Download

Purchase: $8.95

System Requirements

  • Quick News 1.25 (or later) for Palm OS
  • Windows Vista, XP, or 2000
  • Palm Desktop with HotSync Manager version 4 or later
  • Data card for your Palm handheld

The Quick News Images Conduit transfers images for Quick News feeds into your Palm device during a regular HotSync. Now you can have images sync at the same time as the rest of your feeds. No more picking and choosing individual images to download over-the-air.

The Quick News Images Conduit is a companion product to Stand Alone's Quick News RSS reader for Palm OS, and requires both Quick News and the regular Quick News conduit in order to work. This conduit does one thing and one thing only: it syncs all images to your Palm device.

Installation Tips

  • If you purchase the Quick News Images Conduit prior to installing it for the first time, you will be able to enter your registration code during installation. If you purchase the conduit afterwards, you can enter your registration code by right-clicking the HotSync icon in the Windows system tray, choosing Custom..., then clicking the Quick News Images Conduit. Then click Change... and Enter Code.
  • If you install Quick News and the Quick News Images conduit at the same time, run Quick News on your Palm device and then sync again. The Quick News Images Conduit cannot sync images until Quick News has been run at least once on your handheld.
  • Set your Quick News maximum cache size to the largest value possible, usually 100 MB. This will ensure that none of your images are cleaned out by Quick News when you exit the program. Cache size can be set in Quick News, Preferences, Storage. Be sure to store both feeds and the cache on your data card rather than on the handheld.
  • If you open Quick News and do not see images for a particular feed, try exiting Quick News and running it again.
  • Some images (like 1-pixel bitmaps) are intentionally skipped by the Quick News Images Conduit to reduce sync time. If you have a feed where images are being skipped incorrectly, please let us know.
  • Please post any questions or issues on the Stand Alone support forum for the Quick News Images conduit.
